Pte James Graham, 4 UDR, 1st February 1985.
The 149th UDR Soldier killed. Shot dead by the IRA as he arrived at a Primary School in Derrylin to take children to swimming classes. A gunman fired seven shots from a range of two yards, then two gunmen entered the bus and fired a further 24 shots. Jimmy was awarded the British Empire Medal in 1980 after a previous attack on his life. Two of his brothers, both Part Time soldiers, were killed by the IRA; Cecil 11 Nov 1981 and Ronald 05 Jun 1981. His sister who was seriously injured when a car crashed through a vehicle checkpoint also died. He was 39 years old, off duty and married at the time of his death.

LCpl Douglas McElhinney, 5 UDR, 24th February 1985.
Douglas had been a Part Time soldier who was employed on Full Time duties prior to leaving the Regiment in 1978. He was the 41st UDR Veteran to be killed. He was shot by INLA outside his friend's house on Glenvale Road, off the Northland Road, Londonderry, after having given him a lift home. The INLA claimed he was an undercover agent, police confirmed that he had no connection with the security forces since his resignation. He was 40 years old and married at the time of his death.

Pte Geoffrey Campbell, 3 UDR, 28 February 1985.
Geoffrey had left the Regiment in 1984 to enlist into the RUC as a Reserve Constable. He was the 42nd UDR Veteran to be killed. He was one of nine policemen killed in an IRA mortar attack on Newry Police Station. One of the mortar shells containing an estimated 40 lb of explosives struck a mobile canteen where they were eating an evening meal. Geoffrey had only joined the RUC the previous month. He was 24 years old and married at the time of his death.

Pte David Topping, 11 UDR, 28th February 1985.
David had left the Regiment in 1984 and enlisted inti the RUC as a Reserve Constable. He was the 43rd UDR Veteran to be killed. He was one of nine policemen killed in an IRA mortar attack on Newry Police Station. One of the mortar shells containing an estimated 40 lb of explosives struck a mobile canteen where they were eating an evening meal. He was 22 years old and single at the time of his death.

Pte Trevor Harkness, 8 UDR, 28th February 1985.
The 150th UDR Soldier killed. He was killed by a bomb attached to a telegraph pole whilst on foot patrol in Pomeroy. The device was detonated by a command wire 50 yards away as a UDR foot patrol passed. Two of his colleagues were injured. He was 36 years old, on duty and married at the time of his death.

Sgt Robert Boyd, 5 UDR, 18th November 1985.
The 151st UDR Soldier killed. Shot by the IRA as he walked towards his front door in Prehen Park, Waterside, Londonderry. Two gunmen fired 18 rounds and he died in the ambulance. The inquest was told a former neighbour had passed information to the IRA which led directly to the killing. Bobby joined the Army when he was 16. He was 55 years old, off duty and married at the time of his death.

Capt Gordon Hanna, 3 UDR, 29th November 1985.
The 152nd UDR Soldier and 14th Officer killed. He was killed when an IRA bomb exploded under his car as he drove away from his home in Harbour Drive, Kilkeel. He died in the ambulance. Gordon had handed in a letter of resignation to his CO shortly before the incident. His son would normally have been with him in the car. He was 46 years old, off duty and married at the time of his death.
